Overview
Through the Made Smarter Innovation (MSI) programme, Innovate UK (part of UKRI) will invest up to £15.5 million across two strands for feasibility studies and industrial research projects.
The competition aims to explore new industrial digital technologies (IDTs) that improve the sustainability, resilience and productivity of UK SME manufacturers by increasing energy or resource efficiency. Projects must develop affordable, easy-to-use and scalable digital solutions, with a strong focus on future exploitation and a balanced portfolio across themes, technologies, sectors, sizes and locations.
Eligibility
Your project must:
Have total project costs between £25,000 and £150,000
Last between 3 and 6 months
Be carried out in the UK, with exploitation of results from or in the UK
Lead organisation
To lead a single or collaborative project, your organisation must:
Be a UK-registered SME operating as a technology developer
Academic institutions cannot lead or work alone.
Collaborating organisations
The consortium can also include one or more of:
UK-registered SMEs operating as manufacturers (claiming grant funding)
Academic institutions
Research and technology organisations (RTOs)
Research organisations
Award & Project Duration
Award: Share of £15.5 million.
Project Duration: 3 to 6 months, starting 1 April 2026 and ending by 30 September 2026.
