Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA)
DASA finds and funds exploitable innovation to support UK defence and security quickly and effectively, and support UK prosperity. The vision is for the UK to have a strategic advantage through most innovative defence and security capabilities.
DASA operates at a wide range of TRLs in all fields of technology and services covering UK Government, national and international partners and allies, academia and investment sectors.
The key funding competitions include:
Market Exploration
Seeking solutions that already exist and are used in a non-defence or security setting or are in development and require further investment.
Themed competitions
Enabling defence and security customers to reach into industry and academia to find solutions to specific challenges. These are open for a fixed window and often in multiphase and are typically 100% funded.
Open Call for Innovation
Offers innovators the opportunity to submit any ideas that help address Defence and/or Security challenges. These are open all year round with assessment dates scheduled throughout the year. This is open to any idea, technology or service and often there are Innovation Focus Areas with predetermined challenges.
Defence Technology Exploitation Programme (DTEP)
Designed to help SMEs join the defence supply chain through partnering with a higher Tier supplier. Projects are aligned with MOD capability challenges with up to 50% grant funding (max £500k).
Defence Innovation Loans
Designed to help SMEs commercialisation their mature defence solutions. Loans from £100,000 to £1million for projects at TRL6 or above. Loans can cover up to 100% of project costs.
