National Materials Innovation Programme: Feasibility Studies Rd 2
Award: Up to £2 Million
Programme: Innovate UK
Closes: 24 June 2026
Overview
The National Materials Innovation Programme: Feasibility Studies R&D 2 competition is a funding opportunity delivered by Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). It provides up to £2 million to support feasibility studies that accelerate the translation of advanced materials innovations towards industrial adoption.
This is the second round of feasibility funding under the National Materials Innovation Programme, designed to prime the materials community, encourage collaboration and de-risk early-stage concepts across priority themes.
Projects must focus on applied materials science, development or novel deployment, demonstrating how they will improve performance, efficiency, competitiveness or environmental outcomes, and showing a clear end-use application aligned with high-growth UK sectors.
By supporting early-stage validation and feasibility work, the programme aims to bridge the gap between research and industry, enabling faster commercialisation of materials innovation and strengthening the UK’s position in advanced manufacturing and high-growth industries.
