Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking

The CBE JU is a EUR 2 billion public-private partnership between the European Union and the Bio-based Industries Consortium (BIC) (2025 budget is EUR 172 million) that funds projects advancing competitive circular bio-based industries under Horizon Europe and is the successor of the Biobased Industries Joint Undertaking (BBI-JU) which was part of H2020 funding programme.

The CBE-JU’s mission is to implement the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SIRA), undertaken by the founding partners (EC and BIC) via the Horizon Europe funding programme.

The CBE-JU organises yearly calls for proposals to fund projects in research, demonstration and industrial deployment with deadline usually in September each year.
