Growth Cohorts: Next Generation Low Carbon Concrete
Award: Up to £11.5M
Programme: Innovate UK
Closes: 8 July 2026
Overview
The Growth Cohorts: Next Generation Low Carbon Concrete programme is a funding and business growth initiative delivered by Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). It will invest up to £11.5 million to support ambitious UK businesses developing innovative solutions to decarbonise concrete and accelerate adoption across the construction industry. The programme pilots a new Growth Cohort model, combining grant funding with tailored sector support to help businesses overcome barriers to commercialisation, attract investment and scale to market. Up to 20 businesses will join the cohort through a two-stage competition process running between 2026 and 2028. In the first stage, successful applicants receive up to £50,000 and dedicated support to develop an innovation and growth plan. Businesses may then progress to a second stage offering larger grants, innovation loans or additional support packages aligned to their growth strategy. The programme focuses on helping the UK rapidly scale the adoption of low-carbon concrete technologies to support the built environment’s 2050 net zero targets, while strengthening innovation, supply chains and industrial capability across the sustainable concrete sector.
