The PRIMARY Open Call for Agricultural Bioeconomy Innovation is a European funding opportunity supporting the development and replication of sustainable agricultural bioeconomy solutions across rural regions in Europe. The programme provides €900,000 in total funding to help organisations validate and adapt innovative approaches for converting underutilised agricultural feedstocks into valuable products.
The call will fund 6 to 9 consortia made up of farmers, cooperatives, SMEs, universities, NGOs and regional partners. Projects are expected to pilot processing technologies and circular business models that demonstrate the economic feasibility and scalability of new agricultural value chains.
Eligible proposals must apply at least one PRIMARY processing concept, such as biorefinery, fermentation, pelletising or pyrolysis technologies, to agricultural residues including crop waste, pruning biomass or greenhouse by-products. Activities must be implemented in rural regions not already participating in the PRIMARY project.
By supporting collaborative innovation and circular economy approaches, the programme aims to accelerate the transition towards a more sustainable, resource-efficient and resilient agricultural bioeconomy across Europe.
Award: €100,000 (2-partner consortia) or €150,000 (3-partner consortia). 6-9 consortia will receive funding.
Project: The project must focus on validating technical feasibility, economic viability, and adaptation and replicability of integrated value-chain solutions.
Closes: 8th July 2026.
