Freight Innovation Fund Accelerator 2026

The Freight Innovation Fund Accelerator 2026 is a challenge-led innovation programme funded by the Department for Transport (DfT) and delivered by Innovate UK Business Connect and Connected Places Catapult. It is designed to fast-track the adoption of commercially ready solutions that address key challenges in the UK’s freight and logistics sector.

The accelerator supports up to 12 SMEs to develop and test their solutions in real-world operational environments, working with industry partners such as ports, logistics providers and freight operators. Projects must demonstrate how they can solve pressing sector challenges, including decarbonisation, autonomy, supply chain resilience and broader system improvements.

The programme is delivered in two phases: an initial stage providing up to £10,000 to develop a detailed trial proposal, followed by a second phase where selected participants can receive up to £100,000 to deliver a live trial. Applicants are required to match-fund 30% of project costs.

By supporting real-world trials and industry collaboration, the programme aims to accelerate the deployment of innovative freight solutions, improve efficiency and sustainability, and strengthen the UK’s logistics ecosystem.
