Overview

The Low Carbon Manufacturing Challenge Fund (LCMCF) supports Scottish manufacturers to develop low carbon products, processes, and services. The fund aims to accelerate Scotland’s transition to a net-zero manufacturing economy, with a minimum grant value of £150,000 available.

Projects may focus on R&D, capital investment, or environmental aid activities that help reduce emissions, improve energy efficiency, cut waste, or promote the circular economy.

LCMCF is part of Making Scotland’s Future, a programme led by the Scottish Government and delivered by partners including Scottish Enterprise.

Eligibility

  • Open to Scottish-based manufacturing companies or collaborations with at least one Scotland-based partner.
  • Projects must support the transition to a low carbon economy.
  • Eligible activities include:
    • Developing products, services, or technologies that reduce emissions, energy use, or waste.
    • Creating new circular economy models such as reuse, recycling, sharing platforms, or resource recovery.
  • Applicants must follow Fair Work practices.
  • Eligibility is assessed after submission of an Expression of Interest (EOI) form.
